Working on the cabin

As most of you know, the wind storm caused some major damage to the cabin. The deck was destroyed and half of the roof needs to be replaced. As part of the Phase 1 construction work, the deck is the first item on the agenda to be (almost) completed. Dormers will be added to the upstairs loft to allow for a large increase in usable space and the roof will be re-insulated and shingled. Saturday we spent eight hours clearing the three combined lots and we chipped a couple dump truck loads full of trees and branches. Lots of work left to do, but we are making progress. The picture below is a Photomerge of four pictures on the south end of the deck.

Wish I could have been there to help: looks like great family memories ! Those big trees so close to cabin must be scary when ground is wet & weather windy. Any thought given to clearing woods back to a tree-fall radius from cabin ? I hear others in Puget Sound area often do this, especially the big trees that threaten most damage. Mark
