Have they finally figured out who was behind the D.B. Cooper hijacking?

I was really into this story as a kid because another kid close to my age found $5000 of Cooper's money in Vancouver, Wa which is where I lived at the time.
This article is a fascinating read, especially if you have any interest in true crime like I do. I kind of hope he made it, you know?

Seattle Weekly recommends the Black Lips tomorrow night. Well worth your $12!

Black Lips, the Spits, the Girls

The Black Lips are officially the greatest young garage band in America. Those of us who prefer our music ragged, dirty and unhinged have depended on the Black Lips for years. Folks like us were amused when the band puked on stage, peed on each other, and whipped their peckers out for guitar solos (it reminded us of Iggy, sorry…) But naysayers were quick to denounce them as gimmicky. No more. Their new record, Good Bad Not Evil finds the band stepping up in a big way. They’ve turned down the volume a touch, but the record still sounds completely untamed. This is vintage stuff; a combination of LSD anthems, greaser rock, flower punk, country-tinged pop, and pop-tinged country, all delivered by a bunch of charmers trying hard to be perceived as bad-boys. But more importantly, they’re trying to do something different. With the Spits and the Girls.

30 Rock Premieres Tonight!!! Why aren't you watching this show? It's the funniest show next to The Office.

A review from EW (link in title)

8:30-9PM
NBC, TV-PG-D
SEASON PREMIERE

30 Rock

A- - Henry Goldblatt

''This is going to be our year,'' says Jack (Alec Baldwin) to Liz (Tina Fey). Lucky for us, ''our year'' finds Liz sulking in an unneeded wedding dress and Jack developing a new reality hit, MILF Island (''25 superhot moms, 50 eighth graders, no rules''). The bonus: Jerry Seinfeld playing himself, peeved at NBC for splicing old footage of him into its current shows. (SeinfeldVision!) So he threatens to ''buy NBC and turn it into the biggest Lane Bryant in midtown.'' As long as they play 30 Rock in the dressing rooms, Jer, we're in.

In Latest Poll, Good News for Both Clintons

R.E.M.'s Automatic For the People is 15 years old.

http://adamanthenes.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/automaticcover.jpg

Is this album really fifteen years old? That means I was a freshman in college 15 years ago. Wow. I distinctly remember watching the slow, strobe light heavy, black and white video of a crowd surfer for the song Drive over and over again on the super tiny TV in my Beck Hall dorm room. What a cool song. It's still my belief this is the best R.E.M. album because I come back to it over and over again. As a bonus, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin create the string arrangements for five songs. Everyone remembers Man on the Moon and Everybody Hurts, but my favorite song is a very melodic Nightswimming.
Much like they did for the 10th anniversary edition of OK Computer, Stereogum has compiled a tribute album with contributions from some great bands like Rogue Wave, Dr. Dog, and the Shout Out Louds. You can download the album for free at Stereogum's website.
