11 people shot in weekend of violence

Could someone please remind me why we shouldn't have at least a five-day minimum wait in order to buy guns? Why do we need semi-automatic weapons again?
Are the red coats still coming?
Oh yeah, it's not guns that kill people, it's just the idiot humans who shoot the guns (and the idiot humans who sell/give the guns to these people, and the idiot people who market these weapons to the masses, and the idiot people who make these guns and so on......)

I guess I sort of understand people who hunt with guns for food and use all the extra parts for accessories etc. So I guess I understand Indians circa 1830-1920. Oh well.

It's just sad.

New gondola at Whistler-Blackcomb takes ski lifts to new heights

The Seattle Times loves me!
:)

From the article:

Whistler regulars see early- (and late-) season advantages offered by Peak 2 Peak. Says Seattle's Trent Mitchell, 33, an avid snowboarder who makes regular pilgrimages northward, "It will help the most on days where the snow level is high and you can only ride the top half of each mountain. It's always taken forever to go down to the base of one mountain and then back up to where the snow is on the other one. This will be awesome on days when the snow level is above 4,000 feet!"

Thousands rally for gay marriage in Seattle

The Best (worst) quote from the people against the marches today in Seattle and elsewhere:

Sen. Dan Swecker, R-Rochester, a longtime opponent of same-sex marriage, said if a gay marriage bill is passed he will work to put it on the ballot statewide and defeat it. "For me, this is the biggest issue," Swecker said, "and I will oppose it with every resource I can possibly muster. Marriage is something that needs to be set apart and protected."

Really, gay marriage is the biggest issue facing the country? Not the economy, the multiple wars, or unemployment, or the homeless?
And what, Mr. Swecker, are you protecting marriage from exactly? Oh I get it, you are against equal rights for all people. Similar to separate and unequal? You like segregation perhaps?
If the country was run by a bunch of people under 40 the USA would be a much happier place. It's sickening that this is even an issue.

Ricky Gervais: Out of England
The Office's Gervais is half as good a stand-up as he is an actor, yet he's still one naturally funny bloke. But die-hard fans should beware: This special (his first in the U.S.) recycles lots of material from previous gigs. Thank God that story about weeing in a sink never gets old. —Aubry D'Arminio
