April Showers Bring Satanic Powers 2006

Some of you have received the seasonal mix CD April Showers Bring Satanic Powers 2006.
If you have not recieved a copy and you would like one, please let me know.

Here is a list of the tracks and some comments for each one.

Cheated Hearts
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Seeing Karen O and company at the Showbox was one of my favorite shows ever. They played last night and evidentally they were fantizzle again.

Retreat
The Rakes

So they sound like Franz and the Kaiser Chiefs etc. They still rock.
I'm Your Villain
Franz Ferdinand

The new record from Glasgow's finest is very underrated.
You Only Live Once
The Strokes

The Strokes new record is a large improvement over Room on Fire, but still not quite as good as Is This It.
Boxcar
The Rosebuds

Marty turned me on (to this band). I think they sound like Montreal's The Stills with a female sidekick.
A Certain Romance
Arctic Monkeys

Easily one of the best new bands out there today. They sound The Clash, Sublime, The Zutons, and Vs. era PJ all rolled into one.
ConventionalWisdom
Built To Spill

Doug is a guitar GOD and this album captures the band as if they are playing live as opposed to the over-produced and somewhat stale Ancient Melodies record. A fine return to form for Boise's best.
The Man of Metropolis Steals Our Hearts
Sufjan Stevens

This record reminds me of something I think Brian Wilson would have done had he not gone nuts making Smile. This record has pop, rock, folk, country, and even some punk along with choirs and a plethera of instruments. Melodys appear and re-appear throughout this wonderful concept record.
Oh Mary
Neil Diamond

Neil Diamond. Enough said.
Empty Shell
Cat Power

An amazing voice. I highly recommend her other records as well.
Manipulation
The Black Angels

What a great band! This song sounds like a cross between BRMC and Bullet in the Blue Sky era U2. Great groove!

Love Train
Wolfmother

These guys are Hendrix, Black Sabbath, and Led Zeppelin with a hint of Cream too. Who doesn't love Aussie rock anyway?
Steady, As She Goes
The Raconteurs

This is Jack White's new band. Their new CD comes out next month.
Love Me Like You
The Magic Numbers

This is a family band. Literally. I wish I had a family band damnit!
At Last
Neko Case

I cannot decide if I like Neko's solo work or the New Pornographers better. Or if in fact I am infatuated with her because she is hot. Her songs take me to imaginary place in the old west where I am an alcoholic sheriff with a heart of gold.
Roly Poly
The Little Willies

Norah Jones can rock the piano. She's like a female Billy Joel without driving issues.
Mercy
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

This is a B-Side from the Howl album that they have been playing at their shows.
Lightning Blue Eyes
Secret Machines

These guys were on Conan last night. I can't wait to see them live.
Jet Pilot
Son Volt

It's still hard to believe both Son Volt and Wilco came from Uncle Tupelo. This is from the best Son Volt record since Trace.
